La Friche de l’Escalette located on the edge of the Parc des Calanques offers visitors its grandiose natural site, the remains of its remarkable industrial heritage, as well as its modern & contemporary art exhibitions.
This year Germaine Richier (1902-1959), a native of Montpellier and viscerally attached to the Mediterranean, is in the spotlight with a dozen of her fascinating sculptures.
The emphasis is placed on human representation, with The Runner, very appropriate in its times of Olympicism, and its metamorphoses, with Water, ancient goddess with the head of an amphora emerging from the waters.
